Chocolate Syrup

We all love chocolate, this is true. Chocolate in the form of a wonderful syrup that you can put on your ice cream, drizzle in your coffee, a chocolate you can swirl into your milk to make a yummy afternoon treat is the BEST.

Oh lookie, is that caramel sauce too?! Yep.. That's coming!

What I don't like about a lot of the ready made chocolate syrups from stores is the high fructose corn syrup. I have been trying to buy things for our home that has none of that stuff in it, and that means just making our favorites myself. That way I know what's in it, and I like that.

Chocolate Syrup

1/2 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 C water
1 1/2 C granulated white sugar
pinch of salt
1 TS pure vanilla extract

Whisk cocoa and water together in a saucepan on medium heat. Add in sugar and whisk to dissolve the sugar. Cook until it begins to boil, Boil for 3 minutes, make sure to keep an eye on the mixture while you're doing this. You don't want it to boil over. It does get a bit bossy, so keep it in check ;) Remove from heat, add in the salt and vanilla. Let cook completely, and pour into a clean glass jar. This makes almost 2 cups worth of syrup, and will last for a few months. If it's not gone before then! I love the taste of this syrup, it's really perfect in my eyes. And a little bit goes a long way!

Oh my, I love this stuff! The packaging is super cute too!
