100 Cupcakes and Cross Country Adventures!

A friend of mine Jess - who rules - is having a beautiful baby girl Bella in July. She asked me to make the baby shower cake, what an honor! So, I set out on an adventure filled with a 9 inch layer cake and 100 cupcakes. Everything turned out really great, and I hope that Jess and her family/friend have a great time at her shower today and eat everything! Not only did I have one day to do all that, I also had to get Jason and I packed for our month long trip from GA to TX, WA, CO, TN, and OK.. I was running around like a mad woman yesterday. Of course there were a few mishaps, I dropped the cake. It's okay though, I made another and it was marvelous. It was my first time using modeling chocolate. I got up and made a batch of it before I started to bake, and I really love that stuff! So much better than fondant, in my book. I made pink vanilla bean cupcakes with a raspberry mousse filling, purple velvet cupcakes with salted caramel filling, as well as some with a cream cheese caramel, and finally the beautiful purple and pink layer cake with white modeling chocolate, and a yummy cream cheese filling. Man, I should have went to that shower huh?! ;)
When we get back from our trip, I'll post all the recipes and much more photos of the baby shower cake and cupcakes, plus some from our trip! Here is one picture to hold you guys over until then.

See you when we get back from our travels!
