Smoothie Love

The last few weeks I have been on a smoothie kick, I've been experimenting with fruits, veggies, powders, etc and the ones I'm posting today have been my favorites. I suggest heading to the store (if you don't have these items on hand) and whipping up one of these tasty (and good for you) treats, ASAP! I've been hiding a ton of kale/spinach in my smoothies the last two weeks, not only are they packed with nutrients, but pairing them with banana, mango, or even carob powder I've been able to get Jason to drink them and he's the guy who won't even eat lettuce, so I think I'm on to something good here..

Green Goodness (Vegan, Raw, & Gluten Free)

1 mango, sliced and frozen
2 fresh kale leaves, washed, dried, and removed from stems
1 fresh banana
2 C water (more or less depending on how thick/thin you want it)
1 C ice

Puree all in blender until desired consistency, I don't have a fancy Vitamix, so with my blender I blend about 10 -15 minutes.

Vegan S'more Smoothie

1 C almond/soy/coconut milk
1 C ice
2 TB carob powder
1/3 C ricemellow
1 vegan graham cracker, broken into pieces

Put all in your blender and mix away until the ice is completely crushed, if you want to get all fancy with it (like I did) top with some crushed graham cracker crumbs.

I also made a chocolate banana kale smoothie, I didn't take a picture of that one since it was super early in the morning and my phone was dead. Oops! But I'll give you the recipe anyways. Like I said, Jason HATES lettuce. If we're at a restaurant and he sees any lettuce on the plate he won't even eat it! It's that bad. When I was making this for breakfast, adding the kale was definitely a last minute addition and I'm glad I did it. It is absolutely delicious.

Chocolate Banana Kale Smoothie (Vegan)

1 C ice
1 banana
1 C almond milk
2 leaves fresh kale, rinsed, dried, and stems removed

Add all to your blender, and blend until desired consistency. Add more ice/liquid if desired.
